***SOLD*** 1973 REVCON 250D Motor home***SOLD***

I purchased this a couple years ago and have really
enjoyed it. We have put over 15,000 miles on it and it
runs great. It actually gets about 10 MPG at 65 MPH and
will travel comfortably at 75!!  Revcon motor homes were
made by the son-in-law of the guy who started Airstream.
They are constructed similarly, and are powered by the
drive train from a front wheel drive Oldsmobile Toronado.
That's right, it is a classic front wheel drive motor home.
Cool, Huh?

25 feet long. 107K Miles. Oldsmobile 455 Engine. Brand
new TH425 3 speed automatic transmission. Front wheel
drive. Built in 5500 watt Onan generator that works great.
Roof Air works well.  Brand new Fantastic Vent. Fully self
contained. Good tires. One queen size bed and one twin
bed (2 adults and 2 kids). No water damage at all!!. The
engine runs great, I change the oil every 3500 miles and it
needs about 1 quart between changes (that is normal for
this era of GM big block motors). Drive train parts are
readily available and there is an on-line Revcon owners
group that helps if you have problems finding anything,
but hey, this thing is practically brand new, you won’t need
parts for a long time.

NEW (since I owned it): rebuilt transmission (2011), new
ball joints, front wheel bearings, front end alignment and
left side drive shaft (2009), new brakes (2008) new Holley
Economizer carburetor - (2008), Fan and fan clutch and
belts (2010), heater core and hoses (2009), house
batteries – 6 volt golf cart type (2009), chassis battery
(2011), hot water heater (2008), fresh water plumbing
(2008), Roof Vents (2011), Waste (gray and black water)
valves (2011),  curtains (2009), reupholstered seat
cushions (2008), new 30 amp plug (2011), new outside
rear view mirrors (2008).

Work done before I bought it: Newer 3 way (110, 12v,
propane) refrigerator, recent valve job with all new
stainless steel valves, economy headers (4-2-1), new
furnace, new paint (not perfect, but pretty good).

The Story: I bought this from an old guy who had owned
longer that anyone could remember. He loved it dearly
and used it regularly and maintained it meticulously. He
lived in Denver. I picked it up from his son in
Coeur d’Alene, ID.

The only thing that does work right is the oven. The
thermostat is broken and the temperature does not
maintain correctly. It will light just like it is supposed to, but
the temperature in the oven is not accurate. I will try to get
that fixed before it sells. The other thing that we were
planning to do this year is the carpet. It is serviceable the
way it is, it would just look better with new carpet.

We are selling it because we want something larger and
more modern to do some longer road trips over the next
few years. Translation: my wife doesn’t trust my sweet
vintage motor home even though we have covered
15,000 miles in it with no breakdowns, except for the
heater core which gave up the middle of the Nevada
desert, and I fixed that by by-passing it and we were on
the road again in ½ hour.
